My approach

I believe you already have everything you need within you to live a meaningful, peaceful life. I integrate mind, body, and spirit for a holistic experience to explore your internal world.

My role is to help you gently open the natural protective layers that show up as your problematic behaviors and distressing emotions.

You will learn about what those layers do for you, how they aim to protect you, and find out what caused them to develop in the first place. These layers are like scars.

Once you understand and develop an appreciation for these layers, you can move toward healing the wounds beneath them.

I hold a compassionate and accepting space for you to navigate your internal world. When this space is held, the true natural leader within you comes forward.

Your true self is calm, courageous, forgiving, loving, compassionate, peaceful, playful, and so incredibly wise. This inner wisdom is what will guide our therapy to heal those invisible wounds.

COMMON QUESTIONS

DO I HAVE TO GIVE DETAILS ABOUT MY TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCES IN ORDER TO HEAL?

No, not if you don't want to. The treatment modalities I use do not require you to reveal details of traumatic or adverse events. This can be beneficial for those who are legally or morally bound to safeguard the details of the event.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL IT TAKE TO REACH MY GOALS?

The average individual participates in about 7-15 sessions to reach their therapy goals. It can take longer if there is a complex history of trauma or active emotional or physical safety concerns. Additionally, progress could be delayed if sessions are not frequent enough. The recommended frequency is weekly or biweekly.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I'M SUICIDAL?

1 in 5 people have suicidal thoughts in their lifetime. That means, you are not alone. I view suicidal thoughts as a way the mind has adapted to cope with unbearable pain. Having suicidal thoughts also does not automatically mean you want to die.

The stigma surrounding suicide can keep people from being honest with their therapist. There is often a fear about being taken forcibly to a psychiatric facility.

If we collaboratively determine that you are not a threat to yourself or to others, then thoughts of suicide or even homicide turn into a conversation which we will use to inform your therapy.

WHAT ARE YOU REQUIRED TO REPORT?

The session content and all relevant materials to your treatment will be held confidential unless you request in writing to have all, or portions of such content released to a specifically named person/persons. Limitations of this held privilege of confidentiality exist and are itemized below:

  1. If you threaten or attempt to kill yourself or otherwise conduct yourself in a manner in which there is a substantial risk of incurring serious bodily harm.

  2. If you threaten grave bodily harm or death to another person.

  3. If I have a reasonable suspicion that you or other named victim is the perpetrator, observer of, or actual victim of physical, emotional or sexual abuse or neglect of children under the age of 18 years.

  4. Suspicions as stated above in the case of an elderly person who may be subjected to these abuses.

  5. If a court of law issues a legitimate subpoena for information stated on the subpoena.
